Origin & story

Brahma Vaivarta Purana.

Named after Ramā (Lakshmi). King Muchukunda's daughter Chandrabhaga and son-in-law Shobhana observed this Ekadashi. Shobhana — weak by birth — died at sunset but ascended to a celestial realm of bliss through the vrat's merit. Falls 4 days before Diwali.

Phalahara fast; light ghee lamps at sunset for Lakshmi.
