Significance

11th Jyotirlinga. One of Char Dham (Badri-Dwarka-Puri-Rameshwar). Pind Pradan for ancestors uniquely powerful here.

Legend

Rama installed this linga before crossing to Lanka, to atone for killing Ravana (Brahmin). Hanuman went to Kailash for it but Rama built one from sand first — both stand here.
