Significance

Story of origin

When Parvati performed severe tapasya to win Shiva, the celestial trees rejoiced — some rudraksha fruits naturally grew as joined twin beads, symbolizing the inseparable cosmic couple. Considered Ardhanarishvara incarnate in bead form.
