Story / Origin
When Chanda and Munda — generals of Shumbha — attacked Ambika, she emanated the dark goddess Kali from her brow. Kali devoured both demons, brought their heads to the Devi, who proclaimed: "Because thou hast brought to me Chanda and Munda, thou shalt be known henceforth as Chamunda." She then joined the Saptamatrika in drinking Raktabija's blood, ending his multiplication.
