Significance

Yoga capital of the world. Gateway to Char Dham. Beatles stayed at Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram (1968) and composed much of the White Album here.

Legend

Lord Hrishikesha (Vishnu) appeared here to sage Raibhya after his tapasya. The Ganga emerges from the Himalayan foothills here, broad and serene.
