Mathura Krishna Janmabhoomi Yatra
A three day pilgrimage to the birthplace of Lord Krishna covering Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish, and the sacred ghats of Mathura.
About this yatra
Mathura, the city where Lord Krishna took birth in the prison cell of Kamsa, is one of the seven sacred mokshapuri cities of Sanatana Dharma and the heart of the Braj region. This three day yatra is designed for devotees who wish to experience the full sanctity of Krishna birthplace at a measured pace, beginning with the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple complex built around the very prison cell where the divine child was born at midnight on the ashtami of Bhadrapada Krishna paksha. The package includes guided darshan during the gentler morning and evening seva hours, away from the peak crowds, with priest assisted sankalpa and abhishekam at the Garbha Griha shrine. Day one covers Janmabhoomi morning darshan, the Potara Kund where the infant Krishna swaddling clothes were said to have been washed, and the historic Dwarkadhish temple at Vishram Ghat where pilgrims traditionally take their first holy dip in the Yamuna. The evening features a private boat ride at Vishram Ghat for the Yamuna arati when the river surface fills with floating lamps. Day two ventures out to nearby Gokul where Krishna was raised by Yashoda and Nanda, including Nand Bhavan, Yashoda kund, and the Brahmand Ghat where Yashoda saw the entire universe in her son mouth. Day three is reserved for Govardhan parikrama by vehicle with stops at Manasi Ganga, Daan Ghati, Radha Kund, and Shyam Kund for the early evening arati. The package includes accommodation in a clean mid range guest house within walking distance of Janmabhoomi, all vegetarian satvic meals prepared in pure ghee, an English and Hindi speaking pandit guide, all temple entry coordination, ahuti material for one homa, and air conditioned transport throughout.
