About this yatra

Sri Mookambika Temple at Kollur, nestled in the Kodachadri foothills of Karnataka's Udupi district, is among the seven mukti-sthalas of Parashurama Kshetra and one of the most venerated Shakti peethas of South India. The presiding deity, Goddess Mookambika, manifests as a self-arisen jyotirlinga uniquely combining Shiva and Shakti, with a golden line dividing the swayambhu stone — the right half representing Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh and the left embodying Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati. Tradition holds that Adi Shankaracharya, after defeating the demon Mookasura, established the panchaloha vigraha here in the eighth century following the Devi's appearance during his Kodachadri tapas. The temple's gold-plated gopuram, intricate Kerala-Karnataka hybrid architecture, and the holy Souparnika river — whose waters are believed to cure ailments — define its sacred geography. Devotees particularly seek blessings for vidya, with the Saraswati Mandapam hosting Vidyarambham ceremonies during Navaratri. Our three-day package covers Mangalore airport pickup, Kollur darshan with priest-coordinated abhishekam and chandika homa, Souparnika snan, optional Kodachadri Sarvajna peetha trek, and visits to nearby Maranakatte and Kollur Anjaneya shrines. Expect dense forest surroundings, traditional Udupi vegetarian prasadam, and a deeply meditative Shakta atmosphere unmatched in coastal Karnataka.
