Lyrics (Devanagari)

Meaning

Victory to Lord Buddha, born in Kapilavastu as Prince Siddhartha, the beloved son of Queen Maya and King Suddhodana. Renouncing royal sovereignty he entered the forest seeking the path of liberation, and beneath the Bodhi tree at Gaya attained supreme enlightenment, Samyak Sambodhi. At Sarnath he set in motion the wheel of Dharma with his first sermon to the five ascetics, proclaiming the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path. Devotees wave the lamp before the Tathagata who taught the Middle Way between indulgence and austerity, the path of mindfulness, compassion and wisdom leading to nirvana.
