Dattatreya Aarti
श्री दत्तात्रेय आरती
Aarti to Lord Dattatreya, the trimurti incarnation embodying Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, accompanied by four Vedas as dogs and Kamadhenu cow, revered as the Adi Guru of the Nath and Datta traditions.
Lyrics (Devanagari)
English Transliteration
trigunatmaka traimurti datta ha jana,
triguni avatara trailokyarana.
neti neti shabda na ye anumana,
suravara munijana yogi samadhi na ye dhyana.
jaya deva jaya deva jaya shri gurudatta,
arati ovalita harali bhavachinta.
Meaning
This aarti hails Lord Dattatreya as the three-attributed unity of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, the sovereign of the three worlds. Even the Vedic neti-neti negation cannot fathom Him; gods, sages and yogis fail to grasp Him in samadhi. By waving the lamp of devotion before Shri Gurudatta, the worshipper worldly anxieties are dissolved, bondage is loosened, and the guru-disciple bond is renewed, granting wisdom, protection and liberation to the surrendered soul.
