Aarti to Lord Jagannath

Jagannath Aarti (Jagannath Swami Nayana Pathagami Bhavatu Me)

जगन्नाथ स्वामी नयन-पथ-गामी भवतु मे

The closing verse of Sri Jagannathashtakam, traditionally attributed to Adi Shankaracharya, sung as an aarti at Puri. The prayer "may the Lord of the Universe become the path of my eyes" is whispered by devotees as they take the first darshan after waiting hours in the long Puri queue.

Meaning

He who delights in the music of the forests on Kalindi’s banks, who joyfully sips the lotus faces of the gopis like a bee, whose feet are worshipped by Lakshmi, Shiva, Brahma, Indra and Ganesha — may that Lord Jagannath become the very path of my eyes. Victory to Jagannath, victory to Balabhadra, victory to Subhadra — friend of the wretched.
