5 minMatangi Jayanti (Vaishakha Shukla Tritiya), every Friday for vak-siddhi, before important speeches and performances, and at the Madurai Meenakshi temple where Matangi is worshipped as Ucchishta Chandali.

Lyrics (Devanagari)

Meaning

Victory to Mother Matangi, of enchanting emerald hue, the divine veena gracing your sacred hands. Assuming the form of the chandali you accept ucchishta offerings rejected by the orthodox, teaching that purity is of the heart not of birth. Bestower of perfect speech and pourer of the nectar of music, you bewitch even kings with sammohan shakti and make your devotees masters of every art. We wave the lamp before you, from whose grace overflow the rasa of poetry, raga and rhythm.
