Radha Rani Aarti (Shri Radhe Radhe)

The most beloved aarti of Shrimati Radharani in the Vraja-mandala — sung with overwhelming devotion in Barsana (her birthplace), Vrindavan, Nandgaon and Govardhan. In the Gaudiya Vaishnava and Pushti Marg traditions Radha is worshipped as Shakti-tattva inseparable from Krishna — the hladini-shakti, the supreme energy of divine love. Composed in the bhajan tradition of Sant Hit Harivamsa (16th c. founder of Radhavallabha sampradaya) and sung today in pre-dawn mangala arati at Banke Bihari Mandir.

श्री राधे राधे राधे राधे श्यामा। बरसाने वाली राधे श्यामा॥
किशोरी जू को नित्य दर्शन पाऊँ। बृन्दावन की कुंज गलियाँ नित गुण गाऊँ॥
वृषभानु दुलारी राधे लाडिली लाल की। हरि की प्राण-प्रिय कुंजनवारी छवि न्यारी॥
मधुर मधुर मुस्कान राधे की हृदय बसी जाये। ब्रजेश्वरी की कृपा मिले तो जीवन धन्य हो जाये॥

Shri Radhe Radhe Radhe Radhe Shyama — O Radhe of Barsana, beloved of Shyama. May I have eternal darshan of Kishori Ju; in the kunja-lanes of Vrindavan let me forever sing her glories. Cherished daughter of Vrishabhanu, beloved of the dear-Lal Krishna; the very life-breath of Hari, the unmatched beauty of the bowers. Let Radha’s gentle smile take root in my heart; if Brajeshwari’s grace falls, life becomes blessed. Victory to Shri Radhe, queen of Barsana Dhaam, my beloved Radha.
