जय सरस्वती माता
The principal aarti of the goddess of learning, music and arts. Sung at every Saraswati Puja pandal during Basant Panchami and at Vidyarambham ceremonies in South India when children are introduced to letters. Invokes the white-robed goddess seated on a swan with veena, book and rosary.

जय सरस्वती माता, मैया जय सरस्वती माता।
सद्गुण वैभव शालिनी, त्रिभुवन विख्याता।
चन्द्रवदनि पद्मासिनि, द्युति मंगलकारी।
सोहे शुभ हंस सवारी, अतुल तेजधारी।
बायें कर में वीणा, दाहिने कर माला।
शीश मुकुट मणि सोहे, गल मोतियन माला।
देवी शरण जो आए, उनका उद्धार किया।
पैठि मंथरा दासी, रावण संहार किया।
English Transliteration
Jai Saraswati Mata, Maiya Jai Saraswati Mata
Sadgun vaibhav shalini, tribhuvan vikhyata
Chandravadani padmasini, dyuti mangalkaari
Sohe shubh hans savaari, atul tejdhaari
Baayen kar mein veena, daahine kar mala
Sheesh mukut mani sohe, gal motiyan mala
Devi sharan jo aaye, unka uddhar kiya
Paithi Mantharaa daasi, Raavan sanhar kiya
Meaning
Victory to Mother Saraswati, possessor of virtuous wealth, renowned through the three worlds. Moon-faced and lotus-seated, you radiate auspiciousness. The swan is your beautiful mount; your splendour is incomparable. Veena in your left hand, rosary in your right, jewelled crown on your head and pearl necklace at your throat. To whoever comes to your refuge you grant deliverance.
