Aarti to Goddess Tulsi (Vrinda Devi)

Tulsi Aarti (Tulsi Maharani Namo Namo)

The household aarti of the sacred basil plant — Vishnu's eternal consort and the only plant divinity given full puja status in every Vaishnava home. Tulsi is held to be Vrinda, the chaste devotee transformed into the plant whose leaf alone makes any Vaishnava offering acceptable. Pradakshina around the Tulsi Vrindavan in Kartik with this aarti is held equal to ten million Ashwamedha yajnas.

5 minDaily at sandhya before the Tulsi Vrindavan in the courtyard, on every Ekadashi, throughout Kartik month (sandhya pradakshina with lamp), and on Tulsi Vivah day (Kartik Shukla Dwadashi) when she is ceremonially married to Shaligram.

Lyrics (Devanagari)

Meaning

Salutations to Queen Tulsi, the beloved consort of Hari. Through her perfect tapasya she became dear to Shaligram. Her tender leaves and manjari are offered upon the head of Lakshmi-pati. Blessed are you, my mother — wife of the complete Brahman. Wrapped in Vishnu's saffron sari, you delight Sri Krishna. Brahma and Shiva worship your feet; Narada and the gods forever sing your fame. You are the cause of purification for the fallen, uplift the human body, banish sin and pain, and drive away the messengers of Yama. Whoever sings this Tulsi aarti gains every desire of the heart.
