Benefit of worship

Removes destiny-block, blessing for newborns (Vidhata writes their destiny on 6th day), grants foresight

Story / Origin

On the 6th day after birth (Shashthi), Vidhata visits every newborn and writes the destiny script on the child's forehead. Hence the tradition of leaving a blank notebook + pen by the cradle. Counterpart to Dhata — Vidhata sets the script, Dhata enacts it.

Vrata practice

Shashthi vrata (Skanda Shashthi + child's 6th day post-birth) — keep notebook + ink-pen overnight

Associated temple
