Solar Plexus Chakraमणिपूर · Maṇipūra
Location: Solar plexus, between navel and sternum
What This Chakra Governs
Personal power, will, self-confidence, digestion, transformation, identity, agency
Tantric Summary
Manipura, the city of jewels, is the furnace of personal power. Where the sacral chakra asks "what do I want?", Manipura asks "do I have the will to claim it?" Its element is fire — transformation, digestion, agency. Physically it governs the stomach, liver, pancreas, and adrenals. Psychologically it is the seat of the ego in the most useful sense: a coherent self that can act in the world. Rudra, the fierce form of Shiva, is its deity because true power requires the willingness to burn what no longer serves. A weak Manipura produces a doormat; an inflamed one produces a tyrant. A balanced solar plexus produces a sovereign — someone who can act decisively without needing to dominate.
