Varaha Purana.

A Gandharva couple were cursed by Brahma — the husband became a man-eating monster. The wife observed Kamada Ekadashi praying for his release. Vishnu fulfilled her desire (kama) — the curse was lifted. "Kama-da" = "giver of desires".
