Jagannath Puri

Presiding deity: Lord Jagannath (form of Krishna/Vishnu) with siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra
Established: 12th century CE (current structure); deity worship traces to ancient tribal Savara roots
Significance
One of Char Dham. The Mahaprasad (cooked here for 1000+ years in earthen pots on wood fire) is considered the holiest food on earth. Non-Hindus banned inside (per ancient temple charter).
