Fourth of Panch Kedar — Shiva's face (mukha) appeared here. Considered the most challenging Panch Kedar darshan due to long trek.

Continuation of the Mahabharata buffalo legend: Shiva's face emerged at Rudranath after Tungnath (arms). Pandavas built the rock shrine after years of search.
How to reach
Sagar village (Gopeshwar) trail head → 24 km strenuous trek through dense forest, ridges and meadows (Pung Bugyal). 2–3 days each way. Alternative routes from Mandal and Anasuya Devi.
Where to stay
Trail-side dharamshalas at Anasuya Devi, Pung Bugyal; tents pitched by pilgrim groups. Cold + rainy — full gear mandatory.

Modern access
Annual pilgrim count 5,000–10,000 (lowest of Panch Kedar due to difficulty). Brahma Kapal nearby is sacred for pitri tarpan. Many local guides essential for trek safety.
