What This Chakra Governs

Intuition, inner vision, wisdom, discernment, imagination, pineal/pituitary, perception

Tantric Summary

Ajna means "command" — the chakra of inner authority, where the intuitive faculty receives direct knowing without the filter of senses or intellect. It is the seat of the witness consciousness. Physically it correlates with the pineal gland, which produces melatonin and is considered the gateway between physical and subtle bodies. The two petals symbolize the final merging of the two principal nadis (Ida — lunar, and Pingala — solar) into the central Sushumna before consciousness rises to the crown. Its deity is Ardhanarishvara, the half-male-half-female form, signifying that at this level all polarities resolve. A balanced Ajna produces a person who sees through situations without needing them explained, and who acts from inner certainty rather than collected opinion.
