Transliteration
Hiranya-varnam Harinim Suvarna-rajata-srajam | Chandram Hiran-mayim Lakshmim Jata-vedo Ma A-vaha
Meaning (English)
O Agni (Jata-veda)! Bring to me that Lakshmi who is of golden complexion, who is like a graceful doe, adorned with garlands of gold and silver, who shines like the moon, who is the embodiment of gold itself. Each verse invokes a specific quality and form of prosperity.
Benefits (Phal)
Most powerful Vedic mantra for wealth, abundance, prosperity. Removes alakshmi (poverty-spirit). Brings cattle, gold, grain, fame, health, family progeny. Daily recitation by householders said to never lack basic needs. Recited 1008 times = mahalakshmi homam.
When to Chant
Fridays; Diwali; full moon; Akshaya Tritiya; Friday Shukla Paksha most powerful. Sandhya time + Brahma muhurta both effective. Lakshmi puja shodashopachara.
How to Chant
Face north or east. Pure cotton clothes (preferably yellow/red). Use lotus-seed mala. Each verse mapped to one upachara if doing puja. Most common application: 11-time recitation daily for 16 weeks for major prosperity sankalp.
