Significance

Birthplace of Lord Ram (Janmasthan). One of Sapta Puri. The most consequential modern temple — its consecration ended a 500-year contested history.

Legend

Treta Yuga: Birthplace of Rama. King Vikramaditya rediscovered the spot. Babri Masjid built 1528, demolished 1992, court ruling 2019 allowed temple construction, consecration 22 Jan 2024.
