Legend

Lord Ayyappa, born of Shiva-Mohini union, vanquished demoness Mahishi here. After his earthly mission, he merged into the deity and instructed devotees to undertake the Mandala vrata.

Pamba base camp → 5 km uphill trek through forest. Mandatory irumudi (offering pack) on head.
