Primary Mantra
Vrat Katha (Story Origin)
Per Bhagavata Purana, King Bhagiratha performed intense penance to bring Ganga from heaven to Earth — to liberate the souls of his 60,000 ancestors burnt to ashes by Sage Kapila. Ganga descended Brahma kamandalam → Shiva matted locks (to break her force) → Earth at Gangotri. The annual Ganga Dussehra commemorates this Bhagirathi descent.
