Vrat Katha (Story Origin)

Per Shiva Mahapurana, a poor Brahmin widow and her son were starving in a Shiva temple during a famine. They observed Pradosh Vrat with the few wild fruits they could find. Lord Shiva, moved by their sincerity, appeared and granted them not only food but also the kingdom of Vidarbha — establishing Pradosh as the most powerful and accessible Shiva vrata for devotees in dire circumstances.
