Per Skanda Purana, Sage Narada questioned Lord Vishnu about easiest vrata for Kaliyug. Vishnu prescribed Satyanarayan vrata — 5-story katha with each story teaching specific dharmic lesson + family welfare blessing. The 5 chapters cover: 1) Origin of vrata, 2) Merchant who fulfilled vrata, 3) Cursed king restored, 4) Forgotten vrata + consequences, 5) Final liberation through vrata observance.
