Vrat Katha (Story Origin)

Per Mahabharata Vana Parva, Princess Savitri chose to marry Satyavan despite knowing he would die within a year (per Narada prophecy). On the prophesied day, she followed Yama (death-god) when he came to take Satyavan soul. Through devotion, intelligence, and unwavering love, she earned three boons from Yama and brought her husband back to life. The Vat tree witnessed this miracle.
