Primary Mantra
Vrat Katha (Story Origin)
Karna in Mahabharata fed gold but not food in life — after death, his ancestors received only gold in Pitra-loka. He requested Yama to return 16 days (Pitru Paksha) to feed ancestors properly. Tradition of Amavasya tarpan stems from this.
