Tulsi Vivah Vratतुलसी विवाह व्रत
Devoted to Goddess Tulsi (Vrinda) and Lord Vishnu (Shaligram) · Annually from Kartik Shukla Ekadashi to Dwadashi (October-November)
Significance
Tulsi Vivah ceremonially marries the holy basil plant (Tulsi, an avatar of Vrinda) to Shaligram (Vishnu) on Kartik Shukla Dwadashi, the day after Devuthani Ekadashi. It marks the auspicious end of Chaturmas and resumption of Hindu wedding season. The ritual reenacts Vishnu marriage to Vrinda after the slaying of Jalandhar. Households perform the divine wedding with full bridal rituals, considering it equivalent to giving away a daughter (kanyadaan).

Benefits (Phal)
The vrat is believed to grant the merit of performing kanyadaan, securing moksha for ancestors. Unmarried girls find ideal husbands, and married women gain marital harmony and progeny. Households experience purification, removal of Vishnu-displeasure doshas, and resumption of auspicious activities post-Chaturmas. Spiritually, the vrat cultivates devotion to Tulsi as the supreme bhakta of Vishnu, ensuring liberation through her grace and the inseparable union of bhakta and bhagavan.
Primary Mantra
Vrat Katha (Story Origin)
The Padma Purana narrates that Vrinda, the chaste wife of demon Jalandhar, protected him with her unbreakable pativrata power. To enable Shiva to slay Jalandhar, Vishnu disguised himself as Jalandhar and broke her chastity. Realizing the deception, Vrinda cursed Vishnu to become stone (Shaligram) and immolated herself. Pleased by her devotion, Vishnu transformed her ashes into the tulsi plant and promised eternal union, marrying her every Kartik Dwadashi as the cosmic Tulsi Vivah.
