Baglamukhi Chalisa
श्री बगलामुखी चालीसा
Forty-verse hymn to Baglamukhi, the eighth of the ten Mahavidyas, who paralyses the tongue and intellect of adversaries. Seated on a golden throne amidst an ocean of nectar, dressed in yellow (pitambara), she holds a club in one hand and grips the tongue of a demon in the other - the iconic stambhana mudra.
Significance
Recitation is considered the supreme stambhana prayoga: it silences slanderers, wins lawsuits, halts black magic, and reverses curses. Tantric tradition holds that her mantra is sealed until her grace is invoked through this Chalisa, making it the safest gateway for householders to her fierce energy.
When recited: Baglamukhi Jayanti (Vaishakh Shukla Ashtami), every Tuesday and Thursday at noon (Madhyahna), before court cases, debates, examinations, and to defeat enemies through stambhana
