Chapter summary

Faith is of three kinds, according to the guna predominant in a person. Food (sattvic = wholesome, juicy, oily, agreeable; rajasic = bitter, sour, salty, hot; tamasic = stale, tasteless), sacrifice, austerity and charity are each analyzed in three modes. The mantra "Om Tat Sat" indicates Brahman as the source.
